A photo essay of my busy fall... -
The Knife Man

The past few months have been a whirlwind, full of nonstop work to prepare for the holidays. No matter how much I plan, I’m always amazed by how much time and effort even the most straightforward projects require.

But through it all, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do what I love.

I wanted to take a moment to share a photo essay featuring some highlights from my life this fall, along with a glimpse into the projects I’ve been immersed in recently.

The Old Gray Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee looking especially peaceful (down the street from my current studio)
On October 1st, I got to meet Patrick Hallahan of My Morning Jacket-more on that later ;)
My good friend was in an accident that left him with minimal mobility in his dominant hand, so I devised this unique piece that will aid him in the kitchen and the field!
I am working on an exciting project that includes building a giant tree out of metal, so I spent a few days sketching out ideas & I will update you soon.
I made these pins out of Fordite for some new friends :)
I got a new tattoo!
Here are two Brazilian Gaucho-style integral bolster pieces with a matching magnetic and leather box: Granadillo wood and high-carbon Damascus steel.
The changing of the season and the colorful leaves always inspire me. I walk by this tree every day.
I finished up some hand-forged camping knives for two newly minted Eagle Scouts and had a lot of fun working on these!
My Forged in Fire episode that I filmed back in July 2023 aired on Wednesday, November 20th on the History Channel!
I held a private event and end-of-year party for some special guests at my Knoxville studio and taught them how to make railroad spike knives.
Those same special folks gifted me some vintage metal, railroad spikes, and various items from the 1840s. I look forward to making something extraordinary with these materials in the future.
I engraved a Grateful Dead Stealie on a few coins for a long-term project and research and development!

Have a great day.
