The Damasteel® Chef Invitational is back on November 16, 2024, and it’s an event I’m thrilled to be a part of.
This is my fifth year being involved, and in the past I’ve won Best in Show twice, Best Bread knife twice, and Best Cleaver.
The Damasteel Chef Invitational is a gathering of the most talented individuals who not only appreciate the craft, artistry, and stories behind each blade, but are truly artists themselves. It’s a free online event where participants may buy, learn, or simply immerse themselves in the vibrant and unique knife community.
There will be live demos, Q&A sessions with makers, and of course, a chance to get your hands on some exclusive Damasteel® culinary knives.

I’ve poured everything into these pieces, each with its own story, unique Damasteel pattern, and custom handle.
Here’s what I’ll be showcasing:
Chinese Cleaver in Grosserosen™ Pattern: Tall, thin grind perfect for vegetables. Features a Crosscut Cocobolo handle with an anodized aluminum bolster.
Nakiri in Grabak™ Pattern: Minimalistic and refined, with a satin finish and Curly Narra wood handle.
Kiritsuke in Thor on Damacore® Pattern: Polished edge, paired with a beautiful Blue-Green Maple Burl handle. It’s all about that balance of beauty and precision.
Deba in Hugin™ Pattern: Thick spine, right-handed chisel grind – great for breaking down fish. The handle is crafted from black-dyed maple burl.
Sujihiki in Forged Drakkar™ Pattern: A lightweight and flexible slicer with a handle made from 5,000-year-old Bog Oak. There's something magical about holding a piece of history in your hand.
Paring in Vinland™ Pattern: A classic paring knife with a Claro Walnut handle and antique brass bolster – simple, effective, timeless.
Boning in Grabak™ Pattern: One-off handle crafted from Amboyna and Claro Walnut. Perfect for those precise cuts, with just enough flex.
Yanagiba in Grosserosen™ Pattern: Traditional single-bevel Japanese knife with a Blue Dyed Maple Burl handle. Ideal for those delicate, intricate cuts.
Bread & Brisket Knife in Grabak™ Pattern: Flexible yet sturdy, this knife makes easy work of brisket and crusty sourdough, with a Cheesewood handle that feels just right.
Every single one of these knives was made right here in my studio in Knoxville, Tennessee.
These pieces are more than tools – they carry a story, a purpose, and a glimpse of my journey as a maker.
While these are Phillips Forged Exclusive pieces, you’ll notice they all have the same consistent bolster.
I've spent years designing the ‘Primeaux Perfect Pinch Grip bolster’ to make every one of my knives feel like a natural extension of your hand, providing comfort and control for any kitchen task.
